Description:

Following the Goddess's tracks, reliving the original emotion!
The secrets of Ys, which even Adol couldn't unravel, are revealed for the first time.
The disappearance of the goddess, the beginning of a legend.

The disappearance of the twin goddesses marks the opening of the latest installment in the classic Japanese ARPG series, "Ys Origin" (hereinafter referred to as YSO). Its innovative combat system, more refined 3D graphics, and the most abundant storyline in the series have made this title a hot topic on major gaming websites. However, what surprised players the most was that the protagonist is no longer the legendary adventurer Adol, the "Red-Haired Swordsman," known for his wanderlust.

The most abundant storyline in the series

The game's setting is 700 years before Adol's era, bringing the story's focus back to the origin of all legends—the kingdom of Ys itself. Therefore, while players won't be able to explore with the familiar Adol this time, they will encounter the long-lost twin goddesses and the six priests who left behind the six Books of Ys, and uncover the secret of Ys's downfall, which even Adol never fully understood. With the largest number of characters in the series, including pivotal figures like the twin goddesses, Falcom spared no effort in the overall plot planning, making it substantial and well-structured. After players fully uncover the truth of the story through the male and female protagonists and a hidden protagonist, understanding the connections and foreshadowing between this title and Ys I and II will undoubtedly bring a sense of value.

Adol vs. Multiple Protagonists

In response to the plot changes, the series also introduces a multi-protagonist system for the first time. Initially, players can choose between Yunica Tovah, a hot-headed apprentice knight who knows no magic, and Hugo Fact, a genius sorcerer capable of wielding the powerful artifact "Fact's Eye." Yunica excels in melee combat, so her playstyle is similar to the Red-Haired Swordsman of the past, with powerful axe swings being the primary way to defeat enemies. However, as the character grows, the importance of elemental attacks like wind, fire, and lightning increases, changing her combat style. Overall, veteran Ys players will quickly pick it up.

The truth comes from a third adventure hidden in the shadows.

The biggest difference players will notice is with the sorcerer Hugo. In terms of gameplay, players will find that it's essentially the result of incorporating shooting game elements. The key to playing him is maintaining distance and seizing the right moment to sweep enemies away with flashy magic. The exhilaration of defeating enemies truly makes players feel that the protagonist lives up to his genius, making him perfect for beginners. Despite their vastly different playstyles, the two protagonists share a common goal: to reach the top of the mysterious "Devil's Tower." However, after players endure a series of intense battles to reach the top of the tower, they will suddenly discover that the story truly begins at that point—a third adventure emerging from the shadows…

New Elements, Greatly Enhanced Combat Pleasure

In addition to the multi-protagonist system, new features have been added to combat, such as the new "Burst" technique. Different characters will gain different attributes when entering "Boost" and "Burst" modes. For example, the female protagonist can unleash elemental attacks by consuming half of her MP, or savagely sweep the entire battlefield with her axe. Other features include double jumps, special attacks, various combat skills, and other rich actions, giving YSO the most exciting combat mode in the series. Players can also acquire various weapons and armor, and use the blessings of the goddess statues and Cleria ore to refine and enhance their weapons and abilities. While enhancing the combat system, the RPG elements were not neglected. Furthermore, during boss battles, players can even climb onto the BOSS for ultra-close combat. Even bosses from Ys I and II will appear in the game according to the storyline, which will surely evoke a sense of nostalgia for veteran players! Additionally, this title thoughtfully provides difficulty options, allowing even beginners to gradually uncover the truth behind the downfall of Ys!
