It looks like it may be time to dust off that collection of Sega Mega Drive, Super Nintendo and Game Boy cartridges.
Cyber Gadget, a Japanese company that sells game paraphernalia, has launched a console called Retro Freak, capable of running 11 different retro video game formats in one box.
These include Famicom, Super Famicom, Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), Game Boy, Game Boy Colour, Game Boy Advance, Mega Drive, Genesis, PC Engine, TurboGrafx-16 and PC Engine SuperGrafx.
The Retro Freak comes in two parts – the actual console, which is a small box that does the brunt of the work, and a giant “adapter” which is where you plug in all the cartridges.
The console has options for controlling video settings like upscaling or conversion, and users can also download games from cartridges onto the console itself, so if the cartridges gets damaged the games will not be lost.
If you still have any of the original controllers, you can plug them into the console via an adaptor. Alternatively, Cyber Gadget offers it’s own classic controller for the Retro Freak console, with a USB attachment.
