The story depicts a planet on the brink of extinction, with little time left for humanity. A planet 12 light-years away offers a glimmer of hope. When the colony ship Cassiopeia crash lands on the planet, the crew soon realises that they are not alone.
Hunted by an alien creature that mimics its prey, the crew of the Cassiopeia must outsmart their opponents if they are to return home alive.
